Head Instructor: Bart Smith |
| Faixa Preta |
Blackbelt, Bart \\\"Bartinho\\\" Smith has been studying martial arts for most of his life. In 1988 Bart got ahold of a video called Gracie Jiu-jitsu in Action and was shocked by the effectiveness of this unique martial art from Brazil.
|
After spending two years in Europe doing volunteer work in Belgium and the Netherlands, Bart moved to Provo, Utah to attend college. At that time, in 1992, prior to the first Ultimate Fighting Championships, Bart met
one of the first Brazilian Jiu-jitsu pioneers in the United States, Pedro Sauer. Bart lead the Utah team to
compete in the first ever Pan-Am and National Championships held in the U.S.
|
Bart Smith and Brazilian Jiu-jitsu Spokane are an official affiliate for Rigan Machado, who awarded Bart his Blackbelt in June, 2005 after more than 12 years of training. His vision is to develop the Spokane team into a strong branch of the Rigan Machado Association and create tomorrow\\\'s Black Belt Champions.
|
Bart is married and has three children.
